Early Christmas present

Things are shaping up nice in the northwoods. The snow machines from the great lakes are producing some white gold.
Now we just need one of those big weather makers from the pacific to send us a dumping. We are only 10 days out from a possible early Vilas county snowmobile trail system to open. The cold weather in the last week has frozen up many lakes, but still unsafe for snowmobile traffic.

Currently today we are under a winter storm warning for Vilas county for as up to 8 inches of new snow from the great lakes snow machine. Everyday a new weather system is developing out of the west but we are still waiting for one to make it to northern Wisconsin.

The forecast through the weekend is not showing any big weather makers yet, as of this point we are relying on the snow machines.

The weather models do change on an hourly basis, but when the GFS and the European models sync up, then there is a pretty good chance it will happen, the current European model is not showing anything but lake effect.

The good news is the lack of snow, but having cold temperatures helps freeze up the lakes and swamps which we want.
