March Snow
Conover Wisconsin:
Some heavy snow is possible mid week.
Today: Increasing clouds and mild with a chance of light showers later in the afternoon.High: 47 Wind: South 5-15. Rain will continue throughout this evening with some scattered showers.
Tuesday: Cloudy with scattered light rain in the morning, becoming more widespread later in the afternoon. Rain will be changing to snow after dinner time with snow totals dependent on when the temps drop. At this time they are calling for 3-5 Tuesday evening.
Wednesday as the snow winds down early in the day, we could pick up an additional 1-3 more white gold. High temps will hover around 25 degrees. The 10 day outlook for temps.
The warm weather making its way back into northern Wisconsin starting on Sunday will most likely melt a good amount of snow we receive this week.

Warm Temps
High temps will reach the mid to upper 40s and there will be some sun at times. Gusty west wind at 10 to 20 mph. Tomorrow will be fairly nice as well with variable clouds, less wind, and highs in the upper 30’s. The ten day outlook has a lot of ups and downs.
The next chance of precipitation will come with a low pressure system moving in from the west Tuesday night through midday Wednesday. Temps will be warm enough that there will be a mix of rain and snow. An inch or so accumulation is possible. Any snow will melt off the roadways fairly quickly because high temps should be in the upper 30s on Wednesday under mostly cloudy skies.
On Friday there is a chance of accumulating snow. It is a little too early to pinpoint the exact amount of snow, but a couple of inches is possible.
There is a monster size storm in the 10 day outlook, too early to tell the tracking for this one, but we are in the running for a 50 percent chance to be hit with a whopper.

Bitterly Cold…
Very Cold Week
A COLD WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for the entire area through noon today. 5 day cold snap before temperatures rebound into the low to mid 20’s starting on Thursday, and 30’s by Sunday. A few scattered clouds today with temps hovering around zero. Winds will be out of the northwest at 10 to 15 mph. Hoping to see the last of the below zero on Thursday with minus 3 overnight. Ten day Outlook forecast.
Temperatures will be more tolerable late in the work week and continue to rise over the weekend. The mercury should top out in the low 20s on Thursday and Friday and then reach the mid 20s on Saturday. It will feel more Spring-like on Sunday and Monday with highs in the mid to upper 30s. The weather also looks dry from Thursday through Monday with a mix of sun and clouds.
More Snow, Yay!
Highs will be around 13 and the wind will be out of the northwest at 10-15 mph, shifting to the west by late afternoon. With clear skies most of tonight, -10 to -20 for much of northern Wisconsin
The clouds will thicken tomorrow as a trough of low pressure pushes into Wisconsin from the southwest. The weather system will generate some snow from late afternoon into the evening hours. As of now, it looks like 2 to 5 inches could accumulate, with the higher amounts falling around the central southern parts of the area. Highs tomorrow should be around 18 and Saturday around 24 in the Conover area
Sunday we see another cold front moving in for the week with highs around 12 and night around -3.
High pressure and mostly sunny skies should develop on Monday and last through Thursday. It will be bright outside, but also quite cold. Monday will be the coldest day with highs just a few degrees above zero. The mercury should climb up close to 10 on Tuesday and Wednesday and then reach the teens on Thursday. Low temps will be -10 to -20 each morning next week through Thursday morning.
Then we see another warm up for the last week of February with highs in the low to mid 30’s.

Snow Train
A low pressure system moves in from the southwest. This weather system will bring some light snow to the area on Wednesday evening and Wednesday night. Snow could accumulate 3 to 5 inches in Vilas county, with higher snow totals close to the boarder, lower totals toward the south.
Things will quiet down on Thursday and Friday with another clipper system coming to the area on Saturday bringing the chance for another 2-4 inches during the day.
Colder weather will develop late in the weekend and into early next week. We will have a good amount of sunshine during this time frame but you will need to bundle up. Highs will be in the upper teens on Sunday and in the low to mid teens on Monday and Tuesday.
Keep doing your snow dance and hope these snow events start to add up.
Snowy Weekend
Thursday will be warm with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 40s, with Friday a little cooler but still mild with highs in the lower 30’s.
This weekend a low pressure system will move across the Upper Midwest and bring a chance of snow. This snow event will start Saturday morning and finish up by noon on Sunday. In the Vilas county area we will see anywhere from 2-5 inches of possible accumulation. Highs will be in the mid 20s on Saturday and Sunday in the upper 30’s.
A cold front will move in for next week. Highs will be in the mid teens on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday. These chilly temperatures will be perfect for your 2 stroke snowmobiles.
The snow patterns for the first half of February look to have many chances for measurable snow to hit our Northwoods of Wisconsin, fingers crossed we become the center of a couple big storms.

Bitter Cold
The sun will be shinning today, but it will be bitter cold. High temps today and tomorrow will be in the single digits below zero and low temps will be around 26 below zero. The wind chill will be around -30 for most of the time. Because of the bitter cold, a COLD ADVISORY has been issued for the entire through this evening. An EXTREME COLD WARNING will go into effect late tonight into Tuesday morning. During this time frame, winds will be out of the west-northwest at about 10 to 15 mph
Clouds will increase Tuesday evening as a weak low pressure system moves into Wisconsin. This will bring a chance of light snow from Tuesday evening through Wednesday afternoon. A dusting up to an inch is possible in spots so the roads could be a bit slippery for the Wednesday morning commute. Temps will also warm up a bit, reaching the mid to upper teens under mostly cloudy skies.
Later in the week, the weather will remain fairly uneventful and milder. There will be more clouds than sun and mostly dry weather. There is only a slight chance of a few snow showers or flurries on Saturday. Highs on Saturday will be around 25, perfect for Ice fishing. Here’s your 10 day outlook.
Snow Coming???
Could this really be the end of our snow drought in northern Wisconsin.
A weak trough of low pressure crossing our area tonight will produce a few light snow showers. A dusting up to a half inch is possible in spots. Saturday will be the dry day with a little sun in the morning. Saturday night and into Sunday some light snow will develop and it looks like 3 to 6 inches is possible around much of the area by Monday morning. A few days out, but the chances are looking good.
Some arctic air will move into the area early next week. On Monday, temperatures will fall into the single digits by later in the afternoon, and there will be a gusty northwest wind. Scattered flurries will be in the air and some lake effect snow is likely in the Northwoods. On Tuesday, the sun will be out more, but it will remain cold. Highs will only reach the single digits to around 10 degrees. Wednesday will be a little better with highs in the teens under partly cloudy skies.
A slight chance of snow will develop later Wednesday into Thursday with more accumulations possible as temperatures warm up a bit more.

Snow Is Coming
There is a storm brewing, which way it goes is anyone’s guess right now, but the weather models are tracking through the state of Illinois at this time. It is 7 days out, but could change at anytime with other factors. Scenario 1 shows it going through the state of Wisconsin, and Scenario 2 shows it tracking south into Illinois.
The one thing we can count on is the cold temperatures coming from Canada for a couple weeks starting off in January. Our Lakes in northern Wisconsin are definitely ready for marking the snowmobile trail, now we just need snow.
Long range forecast show many potential snow events with the active jet stream, so be patient the snow will happen for all snow lovers.
major snow storm and deep freeze
The new year is going to start off with a arctic blast coming. Starting around January 1st, very cold temps arrive with a very active weather pattern. It is over a week out, but the GFS weather models are showing a major snow storm coming. At this time it is projected to hit southern Wisconsin and all of Illinois. Being a week out, I’m hoping things shift north to the snow capitol of the world (Eagle River) or we might have to rename Milwaukee the snow capital…lol.
The snow machines of the great lakes should start producing massive amounts of snow in the first couple weeks of the new year also. I might get more use out of my Michigan trail pass after all.
The good news is the weather patterns look to be a roller coaster for some time to come, so our chances for a snowy January look promising. Keep doing your snow dance!
rain coming
Mother nature isn’t playing fair to snow lovers starting out this winter. We'll see some patchy fog early on Christmas Day, with the cloud cover hanging around the rest of the day. Highs will top out in the upper 20s. We'll start to warm up a bit on Thursday, with highs in the low to mid 30s. However, we'll also see cloudy skies and foggy conditions, as well as some spotty showers at times. We'll see a better chance for rain on Friday, along with foggy conditions and cloudy skies. Highs will top out in the upper 30s.
We'll see more rain at times on Saturday, especially earlier in the day. Highs will again top out in the upper 30s. A few showers could linger into Sunday mixing with snow at times.
We'll see mostly cloudy skies on Monday, but we should stay dry. Highs will top out in the mid to upper 30s. We'll be a bit cooler on Tuesday for New Years Eve. Ten day forecast into the New Year brings much colder temps. No snow as of now in the extended forecast.
Arctic Deep Freeze
The outlook through the next few days brings an arctic blast of air Wednesday night through Friday morning. Lows on Wednesday night will be -6, and Thursday night -8. Thursday high only gets up around 0. Wednesday as this front comes in we have a chance of an inch of snow to accumulate before the short deep freeze.
When it starts to warm back up on Saturday we see another chance of an inch or so of snow again, but the weekend highs get back to around 30 degrees.
The start of next week shows the possibility of some significant snowfall to hit the Northwoods, but at this time it’s too early to call. Keeping my fingers crossed we may still see the Vilas county trail system open early this year.
Early Christmas present
Things are shaping up nice in the northwoods. The snow machines from the great lakes are producing some white gold.
Now we just need one of those big weather makers from the pacific to send us a dumping. We are only 10 days out from a possible early Vilas county snowmobile trail system to open. The cold weather in the last week has frozen up many lakes, but still unsafe for snowmobile traffic.
Currently today we are under a winter storm warning for Vilas county for as up to 8 inches of new snow from the great lakes snow machine. Everyday a new weather system is developing out of the west but we are still waiting for one to make it to northern Wisconsin.
The forecast through the weekend is not showing any big weather makers yet, as of this point we are relying on the snow machines.
The weather models do change on an hourly basis, but when the GFS and the European models sync up, then there is a pretty good chance it will happen, the current European model is not showing anything but lake effect.
The good news is the lack of snow, but having cold temperatures helps freeze up the lakes and swamps which we want.
Keep thinking Snow & Cold.
Finally Snow
Short Range Forecast
A record snowfall fell in the area overnight but it won't stick around too long. It will melt due to some rain and slowly warming temperatures throughout the week. It will continue snowing today changing to all rain around 4pm in the Eagle River Area. Rain this evening will be around a half inch, continuing into Tuesday with an additional ¼ inch. Temperatures today will be around 36 degrees rising overnight in the low 40’s.
Low temperatures Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night will be around 15 degrees.
The clouds will increase again on Friday as a weak storm system moves in from the west. It will warm up a bit more with highs in the 45 to 50 range. The storm system will produce a chance of snow Friday night into Saturday with a possiblility of 1-3 inches.
Winter Has Arrived
Short Range Forecast
Conditions should be dry except for a few flurries in the Northwoods. Most locations will be in the upper 30s on Tuesday, dropping to a high only in the teens on Wednesday . You will notice the wind once again. It will be out of the northwest at 15-25 mph with some gusts higher than that. And the wind chill will make it feel more like 10. Thankfully, there will be a good amount of sunshine. There will also be a few lake effect snow showers in the far north tonight into early tomorrow, but not too much accumulation.
The wind will be lighter on Thursday as the clouds increase ahead of low pressure system moving in from the west. The weather system will eventually bring some snow to our area late Thursday night into Friday morning. Snow amounts could be in the range of 1 to 3 inches. Drive carefully on Friday morning. Snow should end around midday on Friday, then it looks quiet with more sun on Saturday. Highs will be in the upper 20’s on both days.
Long Range Forecast 5-10 Day
A stronger storm system will move into Wisconsin on Sunday and stick around through Tuesday. It could bring some accumulating snow. It will likely start out as snow on Sunday afternoon and evening, then turn into a wintry mix and rain on Monday and Tuesday. Highs next week look to be in the mid to upper 30’s which will be good for a snow maker at this point. Any ones guess right now on how much snow will fall, but right now the GFS models are showing significant amounts of moisture. We will know better next weekend the track and temperatures this low front will take.
Early Spring Weather
Short Range Forecast
The weather will be quite warm to begin the week and then cool down closer to normal by the end. The temperatures will change but there is still not much chance of significant precipitation. Conditions will be a little cool to start your Monday, then you will probably be able to wear a light jacket later on as high temps will reach the upper 50s. Skies will be mostly sunny and the wind will be out of the southwest at around 10 mph. Tomorrow will be even warmer with highs in the low 60s under partly cloudy skies. Wednesday will also be well above normal with mixed skies and highs near 60.
Thursday is when you will feel a change in the weather. The wind will turn to the northeast, more clouds will move in and there is a chance of rain. The rain will come along with a low pressure system tracking to our south. The highest chance of the rain will be south of Wausau. Highs will be in the upper 40s
Friday will be dry with a variably cloudy sky and highs in the upper 40s. It will be cooler, but still 10 degrees above normal.
Long Range Forecast 5-10 Day
A cold front and upper level trough will move into the area over the weekend. This means partly to mostly cloudy skies and a small chance of precipitation. We could have some spotty rain and snow showers on Saturday and a few light snow showers on Sunday. The mercury will still be in the 40s on Saturday and then will likely cool off into the 30s for Sunday.
Home Stretch
Short Range Forecast 1-4 Day
Monday looks to be a cloudy day with a cold front approaching from the west will bring clouds and a chance of rain – mainly during the afternoon. The rain might mix with snow at times. There might be up to an inch of snow in a couple of spots. Highs will be in the mid 40s early, then temps will drop during the afternoon. Winds will be out of the north at 10-15 mph.
A little high pressure will move in tomorrow and linger through most of Thursday. This means more sun than clouds and highs in the upper 40s. It will be a nice stretch of weather for spring lovers.
The next storm system to affect our area will move in from the southwest late Thursday. It will bring a mix of rain and snow Thursday night into Friday. It is a little too early to say how much snow will accumulate, but most likely not too much as high temps will still be in the upper 30’s on Friday.
Long Range Forecast 5-10 Day
The clouds should break up again over the weekend. It will be a little cooler on Saturday with highs in the mid to upper 30’s, then it will be nice again to start the week of March 11th with temps most of the week in the mid 50’s. The mild winter continues through the middle of March. Only wish at this point I saw a late winter storm approaching for a least one ride for the end of the season. I do believe it’s time to summarize the sleds and start thinking about pontoon season.
Record High Temps Possible for End of February
Short Range Forecast 1-4 Day
Warming trend will continue for today. We will have a breezy southeast wind turning to the south at 15 to 25 mph. Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny and highs should be in the 50s. Tomorrow we will likely experience some record highs in the low 60s under a mix of sun and clouds. For many locations it will be the first time ever to hit 60 in February.
A strong cold front will cruise through our area Tuesday night. It will produce a chance of rain that will quickly change to snow as temperatures plummet through the night. It will be a flash freeze as temps will be down into the lower teens by Wednesday morning with a possibility of 1 to 3 inches of snow. Otherwise, it will be blustery and cold on Wednesday with mostly sunny skies developing. Highs will only reach the high teens.
Long Range Forecast 5-10 Day
After Wednesday we will experience a steady warming trend culminating in some very warm conditions by Sunday. It will be fairly breezy through the period with a good amount of sunshine. High temps will reach the low 40s on Thursday, the low to mid 50s on Friday, upper 50’s for the weekend.
Warm & dry
Short Range Forecast 1-4 Day
Spring-like weather returns to the forecast here in Northern Wisconsin this week. Record highs will be possible some days as temperatures try to warm in the mid 40’s. A high-pressure system moves over the Upper Midwest this week, which will change our wind direction to the south, allowing for more of a mild air flow. Expect melting snow for much of this week. Record highs may be possible for some locations. Dry weather continues with a mixture of sun and clouds.
Long Range Forecast 5-10 Day
By Friday temperatures will drop back down for a high of 19 degrees. The cold air won’t stick around long though, we’ll be back above average by the end of next weekend at the latest. A low front does make its way through our area on Tuesday the 27th bringing a chance for precipitation but with temps in the mid 30’s not sure what we will get.
are trails ever going to open…
Short Range Forcast 1-4 Day
Continuing to see temperatures sitting above average for this time year for the first half of the work week. Expecting a cool down to arrive for the weekend, dropping temperatures down to the 20s. None of the weather models are showing any significant snowfall in the next four days in our area of northern Wisconsin. A few scattered light snow showers moving over Northeast Wisconsin early Monday. Otherwise, some clouds will mix with sunshine for the day with winds turning breezy by the afternoon from the northwest. High temperatures remain above average, around the mid to upper 30s.
Long Range Forcast 5-10 Day
The next weather maker arriving late Wednesday into early Thursday. A cold front will usher through the state overnight, sparking some scattered snow showers in the region. It is possible to see a mix of precipitation to start late Wednesday, but as temperatures cool down overnight, precipitation will switchover to snowfall. Be on the lookout for slippery spots on the roads for the Thursday morning commute. Clouds breaking for some sun, breezy, and cool Thursday afternoon. Highs around 30.
Chilly air follows in the wake of the front for Friday and into the upcoming holiday weekend. Temperatures will likely return to normal for this time of the year. Clouds and breezy on Friday with highs in the mid 20s. Mostly cloudy and breezy Saturday with highs in the low to mid 20s. More clouds than sun next Sunday, high in the upper 20s. But no major snow is in the forecast through next weekend.
